If you got your phone through MetroPCS and T-Mobile USA, it is most likely that you will not need to buy an unlock code because your phone has a pre-installed app that will unlock your phone without a code. This pre-installed app is what the Mobile Device Unlock App.

If you have the Mobile Device Unlock App on your phone, try to unlock your phone using the app.

  1. From that application list, tap on Device Unlock.
  2. Hit Continue.
  3. Choose Permanent Unlock.

 

Your device will give you two possible prompts if your phone is off-contract or eligible for unlock by your carrier it will unlock successfully and it will ask you to restart your phone. If it otherwise tells you,

 

“Unlock Failed: This mobile wireless device is not eligible for unlocking. For Device Unlock eligibility details, please go online or contact Customer Care.”

 

It means that your phone is not yet eligible for unlock by your carrier. If you are seeing a different kind of error, you can look up the troubleshooting steps here.
